About
I have always been a creative person and have always been happiest when engaged in the creative process. My work includes original works in watercolour, acrylic and oils. I love to capture the gentle peace and graceful beauty of nature in landscapes and botanicals.
One of my favorite authors, John Eldredge said that beauty is not a luxury but a necessity, “a lifeline thrown to you from Heaven.” The raw beauty of nature inspires me and stirs my heart with a sense of awe and peace like nothing else, from the most majestic landscapes to the delicate shading of a flower petal. From the sounds of birds singing to the subtle change of colours in a single feather. Whether it be through watercolour, acrylic or oil, I want my paintings to capture these delicate details and evoke a feeling of peace, that feeling of being graced with a lifeline from Heaven.
Sheri was born in Brantford Ontario. Her family moved away from there when she was young and most of her growing up years were spent in a small town in northern Ontario surrounded by ruggedly beautiful boreal forests and landscapes. Her father was an avid bird lover who made sure to instill that love in his children. Her maternal grandmother was an oil painter who also shared a love of birds and flowers. Sheri was creative from childhood and so it was an inevitable and natural progression that she would find herself as an artist creating botanical art. Even though she had always wanted to learn to paint with watercolours, she didn’t start painting until 2016 when she had an opportunity to take an introductory watercolour painting course at her local museum. There, she was taught the foundations of the medium and has since continued to develop her skill, taking further courses and developing a regular painting practice to hone her technique. Since that time, inspired by great impressionist painters like Monet, she has also expanded into using oil and acrylic paint. While her work with watercolour strives to capture the fine, delicate details, drawing the viewer in with a sense of realism, her landscape work with oils and acrylics tends to lean in a more impressionist direction.
Sheri draws inspiration from her surroundings, whether it be in a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store, time spent in the garden, on a walk in the woods or even listening to music that stirs her heart.
Sheri now lives in London, Ontario with her very supportive husband and 4 cats where she spends much of her time in her studio creating artistic works, learning from other artists, as well as working with clients to bring their vision to life. She is currently a proud member of London Community Artists.
